SWITZERLAND: BLS has placed a firm order for a further six Stadler Flirt electric multiple-units.
The order has been placed using an option on a contract for an initial 52 six-car Flirt EMUs which was signed by BLS and Stadler in January 2018.
Stadler had been named preferred bidder for the operator’s largest-ever rolling stock contract in May 2017, beating a rival offer from Bombardier Transportation. The units are scheduled to enter service in 2021-25.
