Trump proposes dramatic cuts to Amtrak operations and capital project grants

President Trump is proposing to curtail federal funding for long-distance Amtrak services and end the TIGER and New Starts grants that have supported much urban rail investment in the USA over recent years.

USA: In a blueprint for its proposed Financial Year 2018 budget, the Trump administration is planning to cut funding for the Department of Transportation to $16bn, a 13% reduction on that available for FY2017.
