Quattro DLR escalator delivery

UK: Quattro Plant has transported replacement escalators to the Docklands Light Railway’s Cutty Sark station using a Doosan Ultimate 250 road-rail vehicle.

The route from the Blakey’s Yard access point includes a steady 6% gradient, and trials were undertaken on a section of the London Trams network with a similar gradient to ensure the machine was suitable.

‘The job marked the first time a Doosan Ultimate 250 has been used on the DLR’s operational infrastructure’, said Quattro Contracts Manager Lee Bridgeman. ‘It was good to see the detailed preparation paid off. Everything went smoothly on the day.’

Cutty Sark DLR station closed in May 2025 to enable four escalators to be replaced with more reliable and energy-efficient ones supplied by Schindler. It is scheduled to reopen in spring 2026.
