Undergraduates can now apply for one of 30 paid placements on HS2 this summer

UK: High Speed 2 construction contractor Balfour Beatty Vinci is offering 30 eight-week paid work placements at its sites to undergraduates who live or study in the Midlands

The programme, which begins in July, includes opportunities in civil engineering, quantity surveying, design engineering, project controls & planning, environment & sustainable delivery and business support functions including HR, procurement, IT and finance.

BBV began its undergraduate summer scheme last year, taking on 30 students; two went on to secure full-time employment, with BBV paying the remainder of their university fees.

‘We believe on-the-job learning is vital and supplements university studies perfectly’, said Naomi Bates, BBV Skills, Employment & Education Business Partner, on January 10. ‘It is a great way to get some invaluable industry experience.’

The closing date for expressions of interest is February 17.
