UK: Indian industrial group Kineco has completed the acquisition of Huntingdon-based TRB Lightweight Structures, which supplies composite train interior products to rolling stock manufacturers in Europe and Asia.
The Goa-based company said this marks a significant milestone in its ambitions for its Kineco Global Rail business to become an international leader in turnkey train interiors. The deal announced in early September follows Kineco’s December 2024 acquisition of Danish rail sanitation system supplier Semvac.
TRB has capabilities in internal and external passenger door leaves, cab end walls, fire doors, aluminium honeycomb flooring and partitions and storage cabinets.
‘The acquisition of TRB Lightweight Structures is aligned specifically to the long-term strategic roadmap of our rail-focused brand—Kineco Global Rail’, said Kineco Group Chairman & Managing Director Shekhar Sardessai. ‘TRB’s legacy and deep expertise in lightweight rail interiors make it a perfect strategic fit. Importantly, both TRB and Semvac combined will now be able to ride on the back of Kineco Global Rail’s large engineering and manufacturing infrastructure in Goa, India, which is entirely dedicated to the rail interiors market. This synergy will help us achieve scale, competitiveness and customer reach across global markets.’
TRB Lightweight Structures Managing Director Paul Colquitt said ‘this new chapter with Kineco allows us to focus our energy and resources on the rail sector, where our expertise and heritage are strongest’.
