UK: Following a successful pilot and validation phase, entity in charge of maintenance Davis Wagon Services is to use Swedish company Predge’s data-driven approach to help minimise downtime and improve the reliability of electricity generator Drax’s biomass wagon fleet.
‘This collaboration combines deep maintenance expertise with cutting-edge predictive analytics, paving the way for safer, more reliable rail freight operations by utilising already existing data infrastructure’, explained Predge Chief Product Officer Jesper Westerberg on September 12.
Predge will use this year’s leaf fall season to gather more data on the performance of its wheel damage prediction algorithms, to support better planning and identify insights that could help prevent future problems.
DWS Engineering Manager Michael Hunter said ‘by anticipating maintenance needs before they arise, we’re not just preventing issues — we are redefining what’s possible in fleet performance. We have already seen proof of both wheel damage and bogie issues that have been detected remotely and earlier than we could have identified them prior to this collaboration.’
