UK: Beta test partners are being sought for live trials of the TravelSpace app, which aims to use up-to-date passenger loading data to help passengers find the least busy trains and assist operators in managing capacity to facilitate social distancing.
The app can also be used to provide loyalty rewards to incentivise people to use retailers in and around stations.
TravelSpace is being developed by a partnership of TenTransport Consultancy, Tractic, NikL Design and Jnction, supported with grant funding from Innovate UK.
‘Everyone wants the freedom and convenience of train travel, whether for business or leisure, but we recognise that travel anxiety will be a new, and very real phenomenon for many’, said Richard Fisher, Managing Director at Ten Transport Consultancy. ’TravelSpace works by giving passengers the information they need to make the right travel choices for them. App users will see how much space is available, as well as the usual timetable and service information.’
