CHINA: Beijing suburban railway service S5 was extended northeast from Huairou Bei to Gubeikou adding three stations on April 30. The maximum operating speed of trains on the commuter route was increased from 70 to 100 km/h at the same time.

Route S5 is now 135 km long with stations at Huangtudian offering an interchange with metro Line 13, Changping Bei, Fangezhuang, Huairou Bei, Heishansi and Gubeikou.

China Railway Beijing Group currently operates two return trains per day on the route, with a fare of 12 yuan each way. The services are aimed at commuters from the Huairou and Miyun districts, as well as visitors to Huairou Science City and Yanqi Lake.
