THAILAND: UK company Fenix Signalling has acquired a majority shareholding in Bangkok-based signalling consultancy MGB Systems Ltd, which has been renamed Fenix Southeast Asia Ltd.

Fenix Southeast Asia aims to offer a ‘one-stop shop’ covering the infrastructure asset lifecycle from concept design through construction to operations and maintenance.

Announcing the deal on April 30, Fenix Signalling said it had good business relationships with partners in Southeast Asia, including MGBS, and was looking to make ‘strategically and commercially advantageous’ acquisitions in the region.

‘A large part of the rail infrastructure throughout the Asian continent is still largely undeveloped’, said Fenix Group CEO Craig Purcell. The formation of Fenix Southeast Asia, headed by former MGBS Managing Director Peter Foxley, would ‘significantly enhance our rail infrastructure engineering capability to take to the global market. This includes a dual offering of consultancy services and rail systems and technology for the design, procurement, installation and commissioning phases of our clients’ major projects.’
