USA: Motive Power Resources has rolled out the first locomotive to be modernised at its recently-completed heavy overhaul and repair facility in Minooka, Illinois.

The EMD SD38 locomotive for Ardent Mills in Easton, Pennsylvania, has been refurbished with new mechanical components and a ZTR Nexus control system.

The MPR facility has 2 800 m2 of heavy overhaul and repair space, 450 m2 of remodelled office and administrative space, and a 1 100 m2 warehouse to store new and remanufactured parts.

‘We are extremely proud of the quality of workmanship, materials and process flows that went into the completion of our first overhaul’, said Steve Bomba, President of MPR, on March 17. ‘With our new facility, fully able to accommodate complete locomotive rebuild projects, wreck repairs and specialty locomotive projects to customer specifications, we feel this is a natural extension of our growing list of product offerings.’
