IRELAND: Iarnród Éireann has taken delivery of two Calipri handheld optoelectronic gauges for non-contact measurement of wheelsets, brake discs, rail profiles or any complex shape.
The Irish national operator had previously used mechanical gauges, with details logged manually and then entered onto a computer system. The Calipri system from Austrian firm NextSense is five times faster. Results are evaluated and measurement values shown on the display, with an immediate indication if specified tolerances are exceeded.
NextSense’s UK and Ireland distributor Mechan will provide ongoing maintenance support and an annual calibration.
