Under an investment worth up to 300m yuan, China Northern intends to open a research laboratory at its plant in Dalian to support the design of new locomotives and multiple-units.

Transalpine intermodal freight operator Hupac reported on February 9 a 13·7% increase in traffic volume for full-year 2010 compared to the year before. The operator carried a total of 690251 road trailers on its Shuttle Net and Rolling Motorway services.

Alstom Transport expects to complete by December a major rebuilding of its electric traction component plant in Tarbes. The factory will gain three new buildings, including a 3800 m2 traction converter production hall which opened last October. The overall size of the complex will be reduced from 31 ha to 8 ha.

Wagon leasing group GATX reported on January 20 that full-year profits at its Rail division declined in 2010. Full-year net income was reported at U$150·6m, compared to US$169·1m in 2009.
