Powerlines Group has established a German subsidiary, Powerlines Energy Germany GmbH, with its headquarters at Ehingen in Baden-Württemberg. In the medium term the subsidiary will be responsible for expanding the group into the Benelux countries and Denmark.

Alstom’s Belfort locomotive maintenance activities have been awarded Entity in Charge of Maintenance certification by Certifer; Alstom says it is the first private company in France to be certified for all of supervision, development, fleet management and execution.

TÜV Nord and DB Systemtechnik have signed an agreement to co-operate to combine their approvals, testing and inspection services. 'We are already working together very intensively on the approvals for the ICE 4 and the München – Nürnberg Express. So it is only logical to extend our activities into an official co-operation', said DB Systemtechnik CEO Hans Peter Lang on March 7. 'At the moment, it is not always possible to cover project rescheduling or delay based on the capacity within our own organisation. The co-operation will open up flexible access to the resources of our partner', said Rudolf Wieland, Managing Director of TÜV Nord Systems.

Transco Railway Products has sold its wagon repair workshop in Bucyrus, Ohio, to Bucyrus Railcar Repair LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of T & C Rail Holdings. It is the first wagon repair plant bought by TCRH, which is currently acquiring rail businesses in North America. The deal was handled by RR Mergers & Acquisitions.

China Railway Construction Corp has made its first acquisition in Europe, with the purchase of Cideon Engineering and Cideon Schweiz for an undisclosed price.

German rolling stock manufacturer Waggonbau Niesky is to open an office in Beijing during March.
