Finnish company Roadscanners has sold its rail division, including its Rail Doctor software and related intellectual property rights, to the Loram Finland subsidiary of US-based Loram Maintenance of Way. ‘Roadscanners’ expertise and its cutting edge analysis software have been instrumental in the acceptance and growth of ground penetrating radar in the railroad industry, both in North America and worldwide‘, said Loram’s Chief Civil Engineer Dr James Hyslip.

Environmental and engineering services consultancy RSK Group has acquired UK wayleave business Consents Solutions Ltd and ecological consultancy Biocensus, which supplies ecologists to rail projects including East West Rail. Financing came from Ares Capital Europe and a revolving credit facility provided by NatWest.

Intelligent remote monitoring firm FliteTrak has become one the first companies to use leasing company Porterbrook’s Innovation Hub, a Class 319 EMU which SMEs can use to showcase their technology. Managing Director Andrew Barnett said FliteTrak will use the Hub to demonstrate its ViatorRail, which ‘is already being used by a major rail franchise to track engine temperatures and performance, but we’re looking forward to demonstrating all of its other applications too.‘
