STM machine for India

Sinara Transport Machines subsidiary Kalugaputmash and Russia’s Ministry of Industry & Trade have agreed a programme to enhance corporate competitiveness to meet the requirements of a contract for the production of ballast regulating and levelling machines for India. The agreement will enable STM Holding to obtain loans from commercial banks at favourable rates and speed up certification processes

Latvian Railways’ rolling stock maintenance subsidiary LDz Ritoša Sastāva Serviss has installed equipment for the maintenance of 1 435 mm gauge wheelsets in addition to 1 520 mm gauge equipment. ‘At the end of 2019 we started to evaluate the possibilities of expanding cooperation with rolling stock owners outside Latvia, but now, with the modernisation of the wheel turning machine, we will have more opportunities to offer wheel handling services in Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and other EU markets. This service is in demand’, said Chairman Girts Ivanovs.

On July 27 Spain’s Council of Ministers announced that it would sign the Luxembourg Protocol shortly, with ratification expected in the autumn. Spain would be the third European state to adopt the Protocol, and as the fourth ratification this would fulfil the first condition for it to come into force. The decision is ‘effectively the green light for work to now move forward on the set-up process for the International Registry’, said the Rail Working Group.

Wabtec has named former Senior Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer of Harley-Davidson John Olin as Executive Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer with effect from October 1, succeeding Pat Dugan, who is leaving the company in Q4.
