Proposed Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Station

JRTT, Japan’s Overseas Transport & Urban Development Project Support Organisation and JR East have established Nippon High Speed Rail Electrical Engineering to support the construction of the 508 km high speed line between Mumbai and Ahmedabad. India’s National High Speed Rail Corp is looking to replicate the electrical technologies used on the Shinkansen network, requiring specialised knowledge from Japan in the fields of electricity distribution, substation provision, catenary, and signalling and communication.

Alstom and Airbus have signed a worldwide cooperation agreement focussing on rail cybersecurity, combing Alstom’s rail knowledge with Airbus CyberSecurity’s expertise in the security of industrial information systems. ‘As specialist in the cybersecurity of industrial systems, particularly in the transport sector, we are keen to contribute to securing the information systems of the rail sector’, said Nicolas Razy, Director of Airbus CyberSecurity France.

Colas is to acquire Finnish rail, road and energy contractor Destia from the family-owned Ahlström Capital Group. Destia has more than 1 600 employees and generated revenue of €564m in 2020. Colas said the acquisition was in line with its strategy to pursue international growth in northern Europe, the USA and Germany. ‘We are very impressed by Destia’s skills and expertise, particularly in terms of digitalisation of construction sites and maintenance services in harsh weather conditions’, said Francis Grass, Managing Director, Colas EMEA. ‘We see the opportunity to further develop business lines such as rail and earth & rock services and Colas will bring onboard its expertise in complex projects management.’

Alstom has appointed Julien Naudy as General Director of the EKZ joint venture in Astana.

Alstom has appointed Christian Martinati as General Director of the EKZ electric locomotive production and maintenance joint venture in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, in succession to Julien Naudy. Martinati joined Alstom following the company’s acquisition of Bombardier Transportation, where he was responsible for industrial management at Crespin in France.
