USA: A ceremony on November 3 marked the opening of Union Pacific’s $40m Kinney County Railport in Texas, which will undertake food-grade cleaning and repairs on boxcars used to carry packaged beer from Mexico to the USA.

The site between Eagle Pass and Brackettville covers 40 ha, with space to expand up to 190 acres, and is expected to employ more than 100 staff.

‘This new railport is strategically located to support our growing import beer business,’ said Jason Hess, Vice-President, Agricultural Products. ‘The Eagle Pass gateway will become a pipeline for crossing millions of cases of beer annually.’
