RZD Logistics, Far East Land Bridge and TransContainer have increase the number of transit freight trains through the Naushki border crossing between Mongolia and Russia from one to two per week. The 57-wagon container trains carry fast moving consumer goods from China to Europe.

Citing a projected 37% increase in regional freight movement over the next 20 years, Port Authority of New York & New Jersey has issued a request for proposals for an environmental study, planning and engineering work on a proposed Cross-Harbour rail freight tunnel linking Greenville yard in Jersey City with existing rail infrastructure in Brooklyn.
