Slovenian national freight operator SŽ-Tovorni has placed a €9·1m order for sole bidder CZ Loko to supply four EffiShunter 1000 diesel locomotives with CAT C32 895 kW engines for use at the Port of Koper.

Australian operator Aurizon has taken delivery of 96 hopper wagons of 98 tonne capacity which will be used to carry export coal from Hunter Valley mines. More are to follow.

Uralvagonzavod has obtained certification for its Type 32-5188 side tipping wagon with a 25 tonne axleload and a capacity of 71 tonnes, and its Type 15-5200 sulphuric acid tank wagon suitable for operating in very low temperatures.

The American Short Line & Regional Railroad Association has welcomed the Building Rail Access for Customers & the Economy Act, continuing a tax credit for maintenance which was first introduced in 2005. ‘The continuation of this credit is good public policy, allowing our industry to do its share toward improving the nation’s infrastructure by incentivising railroads to increase their capital investment’, said ASLRRA Chair Judy Petry.

Russia’s TransContainer has taken delivery of 30 Type 13-6851-05 flat wagons of 2 TEU capacity of 30 Type 13-6903 of 4 TEU capacity produced at UWC’s Tikhvin plant.

GB Railfreight is to fund the repainting into its own livery of the Class 50 Alliance's main line registered heritage diesel locomotives 50 007 and 50 049, which the freight operator will then be able to use on a spot hire basis. The work is to be undertaken by Arlington Fleet Services.
