Swiss Federal Railways, SBB Cargo, commercial vehicle association ASTAG, public transport association VöV and shippers’ association VAP signed a joint position paper on September 20 setting out a vision for more a sustainable trans-Alpine transit freight industry.

ČD Cargo, Innofreight and Wood & Paper have organised a demonstration delivery of wood to the Hněvice paper mill using Smart GigaWood wagon superstructures. These were first used in Sweden and later adapted for use in central Europe. There are 10 pairs of stanchions to allow loading of up to 129 m3 of pulpwood, and the design facilitates faster loading and unloading.
