Uruguay’s Consorcio Constructor del Ferrocarril Central has taken delivery of a further 11 Faccpps ballast wagons from DAXI, with 13 Rgs plat wagons to follow.
Paribus Group’s Northrail business structured the purchase and financing of seven Vossloh DE18 locomotives on behalf of Rive Private Investment. The locos have been leased by DB Cargo under a three-year deal which includes maintenance. ‘Once again we were able to successfully contribute our capital market and rail industry expertise for the purchase of the locomotives, the structuring of equity and debt financing, and maintenance and rental contract negotiations’, said Michael Trentzsch, Managing Director of Paribus Rail Investment Management.
Intermodal Telematics is to supply VTG with 15 000 solar powered CLT20-Ex GPS telematics units for installation on wagons over 15 months, with the potential to ‘substantially expand’ the order. ‘VTG selected IMT as its additional telematics partner due to its solution-driven approach towards meeting our specific hardware requirements’, said Dr Hanno Schell, Head of Technical Innovations at VTG. ‘The fact that IMT has its own R&D team with experienced hardware, software as well as firmware engineers, and offers a high degree of flexibility thanks to full in-house production, was another key factor in our decision making.’
Aves One has agreed to sell its sea container portfolio to Oak Hill Advisors for US$183m, and is to focus on its rail leasing business which now has more than 11 000 wagons. Jürgen Bauer will leave the management board from April 1, but will remain associated with the company in an advisory capacity. ‘We are significantly strengthening our sustainable core business and setting the course for our further growth trajectory with increasing profitability’, said board member Tobias Aulich. ‘The company is finally completing the move to concentrate on sustainable rail freight transport.’
Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railway has rebuilt four SD-40-2 and two MP-15 EMD locomotives for uses by Savage Services at an industrial facility in Houston, Texas.
United Wagon Co is to supply 1 000 Type 13-6903 high capacity container flat wagons to intermodal container operator Trans Synergy during 2021, financed by Russia’s State Transport Leasing Co. The wagons have a payload capacity of 74·5 tonnes and loading length of 80 ft, with a service life of 32 years and maintenance interval of eight years or 1 million km.
Hanson has awarded GB Railfreight a two-year contract to operate an average of two trains a week from Shap Quarry in Cumbria to Tuebrook in Liverpool, each carrying 1 800 tonnes of aggregate. GBRf and Hanson have developed the terminal from under-utilised rail land at the Merseyside site.
