TX Logistik is to increase the number of round trips between the CTS Container Terminal at Köln-Niehl in Germany and the Trade Trans Terminal at Curtici in Romania from five to seven per week from May 10 to meet increased demand.
Basque metre gauge operator Euskotren has been awarded a four-year contract to move imported steel coil on daily trains between the port of Pasaia and Durango for the Railsider branch of logistics firm Algeposa, removing an estimated 6 000 lorry movements per year from the busy A8 motorway. It is planned to extend Euskotren tracks into the port area at Pasaia, and Algeposa and Euskotren are also to investigate ways of further stimulating freight traffic on the network.

FESCO Transportation Group has completed what it said was the first intermodal transport of refrigerated fish products from Vladivostok to Germany. The 49 40ft containers of pollock fillets and minced pollock travelled via the Trans-Siberian railway to the port of St Petersburg, from where they went by sea to Bremerhaven. The total transit time was 33 days.

Nurminen Logistics has expanded its Narvik/Helsinki to China services with a sea connection from the port of Vostochny to Yokohama in Japan. ‘This is a block train for one customer, but due to the high demand for exports and imports to Japan, we believe that more trains will start opening between Finland and Japan. The train transports products of a large Swedish company’, said Sales Director Marjut Linnajärvi. The Finnish company has begun offering services to Tianjin and Jiazhou.
