MSC’s project cargo team organised the delivery of 11 ballast wagons from Antwerpen to Montevideo on the container vessel MSC Sofia Celeste. ’In order to accommodate these ballast wagons, a bed of 24 x 40 ft flat racks was created, generating a surface area of nearly 675 m2 on which the cargo was stowed’, explained Ben Collins, MSC Global Project Cargo Manager.
Savannah Port Terminal Railroad’s long-term rail services agreement with the Georgia Ports Authority has been expanded to include the Mason Mega Rail Terminal which is to be completed later this year. ‘We are confident in the ability of Genesee & Wyoming’s SAPT railroad to consistently provide the safe, efficient rail services needed to match our growth trajectory’, said GPA Executive Director Griff Lynch. ‘With the near completion of Garden City Terminal’s Mason Mega Rail project, intermodal trade via the Port of Savannah is expected to play an increasing role in our business.’
Russian Railways’ freight volumes have reached the pre-pandemic level of 2019, Aleksey Shilo, Deputy Managing Director reported on April 16. ‘April shows that the economy is recovering rapidly. We are actively reactivating locomotives from the reserve fleet and training employees to ensure the performance of ever-increasing freight volumes’. The average daily loading volumes on some days of April reached 3·7 million tonnes, a record for the past few years.
From May 10 TX Logistik will operate five round trips per week on the route between Leipzig and Verona, up from four at present. In June the service from Padborg in Denmark to Verona will also be increased with a seventh round trip per week.
Eco-Energy Distribution has awarded Granite a contract to build an Intermodal Ethanol Transfer Facility at the Port of Stockton, California, by February 2022. The yard will be able to accommodate 108 wagons. ‘Our diverse portfolio, including industrial, rail, and structural concrete, sets us apart from the local competition and makes us a good fit for opportunities at the Port’, said Granite Territory Manager Marc Almassy.
