UWC's flatcar

Leasing company VTG Rail Russia has ordered 100 container wagons from United Wagon Co, taking its fleet of Tikhvin-built wagons to 350. ‘In planning and diversifying our fleet we are guided by the following criteria: the rolling stock must be commercially viable for our clients, it must be of advanced technical specifications, and, in terms of cost-effectiveness, it must meet the targets set by our shareholders’, said Olga Yakimova, CEO of VTG Rail Russia. ’UWC’s flat cars meet all these requirements.’

The Rail Working Group and Swiss supply chain digitisation company Nexxiot are working together to implement the Unique Rail Vehicle Identification System, and will place URVIS numbers on all rolling stock supported by Nexxiot as soon as these numbers are available. Nexxiot said its proprietary cloud-based technology has the flexibility and scalability to encourage uniform acceptance by shippers, operators and governments.
