EGYPT: Alstom has supplied, tested and commissioned a Smartlock 400 computer-based interlocking at Maghagha.

This is the second location on the 240 km route running south up the Nile from Beni Suef to Asyut to have its electro-mechanical interlocking replaced by Smartlock 400 under a contract awarded by Egyptian National Railways in 2015, following the commissioning of Abu Qurqas at the end of 2018.

‘We are very pleased to achieve this new project milestone which will ensure higher system availability and greater safety’, said Raphael Bernardelli, Alstom Managing Director for North & Central Africa, on March 11.
