CHILE: State railway EFE has awarded Indra a 10-year contract worth €6·9m to supply, install and maintain a multiservice Internet Protocol/Multiprotocol Label Switching data communications network covering more than 550 km of railway between and around Santiago and Concepción.

The IP/MPLS network will carry data for voice communications, traffic control, CCTV and security systems and the remote control of electrification equipment. Indra will also repair optic fibre links which were damaged by an earthquake in 2010.

Announcing the contract on June 6, Indra said it would be well positioned to bid for two future tenders covering the rest of the EFE network.
