GERMANY: Container Terminal Wilhelmshaven JadeWeserPort-Marketing has awarded Rail Power Systems a €7m contract to design and install 15 kV 16·7 Hz electrification on the 4 km connection from the DB Netz network into the terminal, and in a 16-track marshalling yard at the site.

Work is expected to get underway in the middle of the year for completion by the December timetable change, aligning with DB’s electrification of the Oldenburg – Wilhelmshaven line; the terminal operator said this was the final contract for the upgrading of the line to serve the port.

‘We are optimising the rail hinterland connection for JadeWeserPort in order to offer national and international customers ideal conditions for rail services’, said Dr Bernd Althusmann, Niedersachen’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Chairman of the supervisory board of CTWJM on January 26.

München-based Rail Power Systems is a subsidiary of China’s Tianjin Keyvia Electric Co.
