ALSTOM: Innovations to help drive the global transition to more sustainable transport and support digitalisation will be highlighted by Alstom at InnoTrans 2018.
SBB Prima H4
On show on the outdoor tracks will be one of the Prima H4 four-axle electro-diesel locomotives which Swiss Federal Railways has ordered to haul infrastructure trains and for shunting in the yards at Lausanne and Limmattal.
The large single cab is intended as a ‘working and waiting’ space for up to four staff, who will be able to travel to worksites onboard the locomotives and spend time in the cab while on-site.
As well as being able to work from 15 kV 16·7 Hz overhead electrification, the Prima H4 locomotive has two diesel engines with electric transmission and an automatic start-stop system. This is expected to provide a 20% reduction in fuel consumption compared with a single-engine locomotive.
Trenitalia Coradia Stream
Also on display will be a Coradia Stream EMU for Italian national operator Trenitalia, which has branded the design Pop in line with the musical theme adopted for the names of its regional fleets.
A framework agreement for up to 150 units worth €900m was signed in August 2016, with firm orders being placed as Trenitalia agrees operating contracts with regional authorities. The 160 km/h single-deck 3 kV DC EMUs are available in three-car and four-car variants, and the interiors can be configured in different to meet local requirements.
Aptis electric bus
An Aptis electric bus will also be on show. The mostly low floor vehicle is based on a tram design, with roof-mounted equipment, double doors for fast boarding and alighting and four-wheel steering.
Indoors, Alstom will be showing a model of the iLint hydrogen fuel cell multiple-unit, as well as digital displays highlighting the Avelia high speed train family.
Visitors will also be able to learn about the Iconis control centre concept, and Mastria multimodal supervision system with advanced data analytics.
