POLAND: The first next-generation Impuls electric multiple-unit was unveiled at Newag’s factory in Nowy Sącz on June 18.

The first customer for the Impuls II is Łódź suburban operator Łódzka Kolej Aglomeracyjna, which has ordered 14 three-car EMUs under a 236·8m złoty contract signed in February 2017. Newag will maintain them for 12 years.

The first unit is expected to begin testing in Kraków in late June and the Żmigród test circuit in early July. In September it will be displayed at the InnoTrans trade fair in Berlin and presented to ŁKA ahead of entry into passenger service in December.
