On June 9 Schlumberger announced that it had been selected to supply a new ticketing network for London’s Docklands Light Railway, following the rapid growth in patronage over the past seven years. The package includes 92 new vending machines at 36 stations, linked to a Windows NT-based central management system over the existing DLR data backbone.

The vending machines will accept payment by notes, coins, magnetic credit cards or smart cards, with an average transaction time of less than 15 sec. They will issue ISO format card tickets with magnetic coding for through journeys to London Underground or the franchised commuter train operators.
