Eurostar Group has reported a total revenue of £198·3m for the first six months of 1999, up 6% from £186·8m in the first half of 1998. Over the same period, volume was up 1% from 3·4million to 3·5 million passengers.

Chief Executive Designate Hamish Taylor said that a combination of ’powerful promotional offers’ and punctuality ’significantly better’ than the airlines had enabled Eurostar to retain its position as market leader ’on the combined Paris and Brussels routes’.
