SCREEN: Touch screens are firmly established in applications such as ticket vending machines and check-in terminals. However, many designs, particularly in the largest sizes, are sensitive to dirt and moisture, easily damaged and require regular calibration.

Conrac has introduced a touch screen which it says is better suited for use in public environments. The screen is designed to be maintenance-free, with no need for recalibration. Laminated safety glass makes the displays vandal-resistant, and outdoor rated housings are available to ensure moisture and dust do not cause trouble. Passengers can operate the screen with anything, including a gloved finger or a pen.
