RAIL temperatures can be monitored remotely using Radio-Tech’s RTM, providing operators with early warning of potential track buckling on inaccessible sections of line without endangering staff.

Up to eight non-invasive temperature probes are mounted on rails with any flat bottom profile, with each probe fitted in under a minute without needing tools. The probes have a battery life of six to 10 years, and transmit data to a lineside wireless logger which can be installed up to 70m away. This has a battery life of around a year and relays the data to a central server which carries out data analysis and provides remote access to the information.
