VOITH Turbo has introduced two hydrodynamic transmissions for underfloor power applications. The T111bre has integrated reversing gear and hydrodynamic retarder, and is suitable for transmission input power up to 300 kW. It is aimed at the light rail market, where it can be fitted close to a bogie to permit large low-floor areas.
The T212bre turbo transmission is designed for diesel railcars with higher maximum speeds. Featuring a hydrodynamic torque converter, two fluid couplings and a retarder, its construction is identical to the proven T312bre. Rated at 400 kW, the transmission input power has been adapted for the medium performance market.
