WIDE variations and rapid changes in ambient light levels occurring on a moving train can cause saturation of the images recorded by onboard CCTV cameras, but Tokyu Car’s digital video cameras have adaptive wide dynamic ranges to provide improved image quality.

The cameras are supplied in a thin housing which is designed to allow easy mounting on commuter trains, where their presence acts to deter theft and groping. Continuous recording onto hard disks prevents image deterioration, and live images are instantly displayed on screens mounted on the driver’s console if a passenger presses a panic button.
