GERMANY: DB has awarded Alstom, Bombardier and Stadler firm orders for the supply of electric multiple-units within the terms of a series of existing framework agreements.

On April 3 DB Regio announced orders for EMUs which are to be used from 2014 on services operated under contract in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Stadler will supply 14 four-section Flirt units for Münster - Essen - Mönchengladbach service RE42 at a cost of €75m, while Alstom has a €140m contract to supply 28 three-section Coradia Continental units for use on Rhein-Ruhr Routes S5 and S8 from Hagen to Dortmund and Mönchengladbach.

On March 30 DB had announced a €160m firm order for 16 four-car Bombardier Twindexx double-deck EMUs within a 2008 framework agreement. They will be used on services from Hamburg to Kiel and Flensburg from 2014.
