CZECH REPUBLIC: Skoda Transportation has rolled out the first of 15 three-car and four two-car Type 7Ev 'RegioPanter' single-deck regional and suburban electric multiple-units which Czech Railways ordered under a KC2·51bn contract signed in February.

The partly low-floor air-conditioned vehicles have first and second class seats by Borcad, wheelchair-accessible retention toilets, 230 V at-seat sockets and audio-visual passenger information. A space for bulky luggage, prams and bicycles is provided. The bodyshells are made of aluminium extrusions with steel front ends, and top speed is 160 km/h.

They will be a mix of 3 kV DC and 3 kV DC/25kV 50 Hz dual-system units. Deliveries will begin next year and run to February 2014. All vehicles will be built by Skoda Transportation's subsidiary Skoda Vagónka at Ostrava-Vítkovice.
