EUROPE: Czech operator RegioJet has bought six coaches formerly used by defunct Italian open access operator Arenaways for an undisclosed price.

The vehicles were manufactured by Astra Vagoane Calatori of Romania in 2010, and were in service for just few months. They have since been stored at the Santhià workshops. Before entering service with RegioJet they will undergo heavy refurbishment in Romania, including reconfiguration of the interiors to match the layout of Astra coaches which RegioJet bought new.

Meanwhile, RegioJet is seeking a buyer for seven Type WRmz dining cars built by SGP in 1988-89 which it acquired from Austrian Federal Railways with the intention of using them on the Bratislava – Košice long-distance service launched in December 2014. That service ended in January this year, and the dining cars no longer fit with RegioJet’s operating concept. They are being overhauled by Loko Trans Brno ready for sale.
