UK: Network Rail has appointed Preservica to create a cloud-based digital archive to preserve and provide secure access to operational information and digital assets.

This will include business information generated since 2002, and digitised heritage content including organisational, corporate and operational records such as annual company reports, board meeting minutes, timetables and marketing campaigns dating back to the 1830s.

‘After extensively researching ways to meet our obligations and guarantee access, we settled on Preservica’, said Network Rail Archivist Vicky Stretch. ‘The active digital preservation software will allow us to keep our information alive by migrating files to newer formats over time, as well as providing secure online access for internal users and the public. As we produce new digital content every day, the system will also let us move files to the cloud on a real-time basis for safekeeping and access.’
