GERMANY: Niedersachsen transport agency LNVG has appointed Bombardier Transportation as registered keeper and entity in charge of maintenance of its fleet of 220 Twindexx Vario double-deck coaches, 29 Traxx Class 146 electric locomotives and eight Traxx DE Class 246 diesel locomotives under a contract running until 2035. The long duration of the deal is designed to align with the expected lifecycle of the vehicles, which LNVG will provide to the winners of its future operating contracts.

LNVG has outsourced maintenance to Bombardier since the first vehicles were delivered in 2003, but the takeover of the registered keeper role and entity in charge of maintenance responsibilities is a first for the supplier.

The deal ‘truly proves our ability to identify key areas on the value chain where we can provide added value and benefits to our customer’, said Michael Fohrer, Bombardier Transportation’s President of Locomotives, Light Rail Vehicles & Services, Central & Eastern Europe, on August 24. ‘For many years we have been a strong partner to LNVG and the region of Niedersachsen and are proud to once again have been chosen to provide our strong services offering to increase reliability and service in the region.’
