BELGIUM: Freight operator Lineas has awarded Voith a contract to overhaul an initial 30 of its Siemens/Vossloh Class 77 diesel-hydraulic locomotives, to improve reliability, reduce operating costs and minimise downtime.

The 4½-year agreement announced on June 23 covers a major overhaul with a predefined scope, plus options for variant-specific components and the major overhaul of Voith L4r4 turbo transmissions across all of Lineas’ Class 77 locos. Voith will analyse the condition of the locos, and potentially undertake several upgrades as part of the overhaul programme.

‘This is the first step towards a long-term partnership’, said Vincent Delfosse, Asset Maintenance Manager at Lineas. ‘We have the support of a strong and reliable service partner with extensive experience in diesel locomotive technology that can provide us with qualitative maintenance services tailored to our needs.’
