AUSTRALIA: Pacific National has awarded UGL contracts with a totalling A$594m for the supply and maintenance of locomotives, including the first order for the 1067 mm gauge version of GE’s PowerHaul family.

UGL is to supply PN with three 1 067 mm gauge PH37 PowerHaul freight locomotives, along with three more Class 93 C44ACi locomotives.

Three existing maintenance contracts covering Siemens Class 71, UGL/GE Class 92/93 and Goninan Class NR locomotives have been extended from their current end dates to run until a common end date on June 30 2026, and a new contract has been agreed for the maintenance of Pacific National’s EMD loco fleet in the state of Victoria which will also run to the same date.
