Motherwell

UK: Balfour Beatty has been appointed as contractor for redevelopment of Motherwell station as a £14·5m regional transport hub.

The project is being undertaken through a partnership between ScotRail, North Lanarkshire Council, Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and Transport Scotland. It includes a new station building with a glazed roof and a brighter, larger concourse, offering improved ticket retailing facilities, refurbished toilets, enhanced food and drink retailing. The forecourt will also be improved, with enhancements to pedestrian, cycling, bus and taxi access, while the park and ride facilities at Farm Street will be expanded.

The project will be undertaken in two phases, with work on the station redevelopment due to start by summer 2020 and the transport integration works following in 2021.
