UK: West Midlands Trains has deployed an on-train real-time information and entertainment system supplied by GoMedia and its parent company Icomera.

Passengers connect their smart device to on-train wi-fi, and can then access live information about both the progress of the train and onward connections. There is also a range of entertainment content, including TV shows, film trailers and sport, news and weather updates.

‘With free Wi-Fi already available across our entire fleet, passengers can simply log on and see where the train is on the route and what time it arrives at each station, taking away the uncertainty about where they are in their journey’, explained Lawrence Bowman, Customer Experience Director at WMT’s London Northwestern Railway business unit, on December 8.

GoMedia Managing Director Roger Matthews added that ‘providing real-time information and onboard entertainment is a proven way to help make public transport more attractive, simplifying journey planning and making trips more enjoyable for passengers.’
