USA: In a vote on June 22, East Baton Rouge Metro Council approved funding for the TramLinkBR project. The forecast project cost of $150m is expected to be met partly through federal funding.

The proposed north-south route would run 4·8 km from North Street to North Stadium Drive, serving the city centre and Louisiana State University. There would be 11 stops and a depot at South Boulevard.

Construction could start in late 2018, with passenger services in 2021. The proposed timetable would see services running at 15 to 20 min headways between 6.00 and 22.00, with a later finish on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The City-Parish of Baton Rouge received a federal TIGER grant in September 2014 for planning, environmental and engineering studies.
