INDIA: Train detection and lineside equipment control system manufacturer Frauscher Sensortechnik launched construction of a factory in Mysore with a groundbreaking, blessing and tree planting ceremony on August 7.
The site is intended to strengthen Frauscher’s position in the Indian rail market and expand its capabilities in emerging international markets including southeast Asia and the Middle East.
The 14 400 m² facility is scheduled for completion by October 2026. It will have sensor and board production on the ground floor, with the first floor containing office space, training facilities, an R&D hub providing tailored product innovation for Indian Railways and a ‘experience centre’ where visitors will be able to gain a deeper understanding of the company’s technology and its real-world applications.

Rooftop solar panels will provide clean energy, and other sustainability features of the factory will include 100% wastewater recycling, rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge via percolation pits.
‘The construction of our extended manufacturing hub in India marks an important milestone in our global strategy to build a more resilient and responsive supply chain’, said CEO Michael Thiel. ‘Designed to complement our Austrian operations, this site expands our manufacturing footprint and strengthens our ability to meet growing demand across key international markets, while maintaining the high standards of quality and innovation.’
