Tram and bus manufacturer Solaris has announced plans for a 14m złoty expansion of its bodyshell plant at Sroda Wielkopolska in Poland, enlarging the production hall from 4500 m2 to 7100 m2 and providing more office space.

Uralvagonzavod and UVZ Baltija have begun construction of wagon manufacturing plant at a former sugar factory at Jelgava in Latvia. Starting next year the facility will produce flat wagons, vans, tanks, hoppers and grain wagons, reaching full capacity of 2000 wagons/year in early 2015. The initial production will be for the Baltic States and CIS, with western markets planned to follow.

An agreement for the construction of two plants for the assembly of locomotive and coaches in Myanmar was signed in Naypyitaw on July 17 by Myanma Railways and China National Machinery Import & Export Corp.

Polish track component manufacturer KZN Biezanów has established KZN Rail as a stand-alone subsidiary to take over its track upgrading activities.
