Wabtec acquires ARINC

Wabtec has acquired Collins Aerospace’s ARINC rail business segment, which provides dispatching, back-office, cybersecurity and life-cycle management systems in the USA and Canada. ‘Our combined technologies will optimise the rail network and deliver a rail ecosystem with increased productivity, efficiency and safety’, said Nalin Jain, President of Wabtec’s Digital Electronics business, on June 16.

Škoda Transportation Group has announced ‘solid financial results’ for 2021, with consolidated net income of €22·6m, EBITDA up 178% to €41·3m and a 41% year-on-year increase in sales to €604·4m. On June 7 Eurofima disbursed €160m under a 12-year agreement with FS Group to finance passenger trains throughout Italy.

The Birmingham Centre for Railway Research & Education has signed an agreement with RazorSecure to collaborate on rail cybersecurity including threat detection, monitoring signalling systems and establishing a common body of knowledge for education in rail cyber security and integrating cyber security within safety and regulatory requirements.

Nevomo has received a €2·5m grant from the European Innovation Council Accelerator Programme, which it expects to be extended by an equity component of up to €15m, to support the development of its concept for maglevs using existing railway alignments. Preparations for full-scale tests are underway at Nowa Sarzyna in Poland.
