The European Commission has approved the acquisition of rolling stock leasing group VTG by US-based Global Infrastructure Partners, Luxembourg-based Azure Vista C 2020 and Canadian pension fund manager OMERS Administration Corp. The commission concluded that the proposed acquisition did not raise any competition concerns, given its limited impact on the market.

WSP USA has launched its Mobility Marketplace, bringing together its transport products in a suite of services which Mobility Operations director Patrick McGowan said ‘will integrate a network of disparate mobility services into one efficient, usable platform for busy people on the move’. This will enable the consultancy’s clients to ’realise reduced administrative costs, combine systems, achieve economies of scale and provide better, faster and more reliable services to their customers’.

Australian rail staffing, training, surveying and track and signalling services provider Railtrain Holdings Group has appointed Gary McLaughlin as CEO. He was previously Executive General Manager RMC Rail Services & Strategy. He said Australia is seeing record levels of investment in rail infrastructure, and RHG has ‘demonstrated its ability to identify suitable candidates from outside the rail sector and skill them up, in both above and below rail operations, through our insourced nationally accredited training and mentoring programmes’.

The Greenbrier Companies

Following the retirement of Alejandro Centurion, The Greenbrier Companies has appointed William (Bill) Krueger as President of Greenbrier Manufacturing Operations from September 1. Previously Chief Operating Officer for the Manufacturing business, Krueger is now responsible for wagon manufacturing in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Poland, Romania and Turkey, as well as global design, engineering, sourcing, logistics and quality. Centurion continues as Chair of Greenbrier Europe’s Supervisory Board.

Robert Biesterfeld Jr and Veena Lakkundi have joined the board of wagon manufacturing and leasing group Trinity Industries, taking it to nine members. Biesterfeld is President & CEO of CH Robinson Worldwide and Lakkundi is Senior Vice-President, Corporate Strategy & Development at Rockwell Automation.
