Flexible workspace company Industrious is to operate meeting rooms and coworking spaces inside Brightline stations in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando, and will offer a bookable coach for on-train meetings and events for up to 66 people. ‘This partnership is about making travel feel effortless and productive, so you can blend work and leisure without skipping a beat’, said Industrious CCO Gentry Long.

The second revision of the UN Model Rules on permanent identification of railway rolling stock, which was issued by the Working Party on Rail Transport of the UN ECE Inland Transport Committee in November 2024, was approved by the supervisory authority at its annual meeting on April 23. Revision 2 creates more latitude for debtors and creditors to apply a transition period of up to three years for the permanent marking of existing rolling stock with the URVIS number where there is already a running number.

IVU Traffic Technologies has established an IVU.solutions subsidiary to develop custom software tailored to the needs of individual transport operators. This could included interfaces to third-party systems or the development of supplementary modules for its IVU.suite. 

Systra has announced turnover of €1·25bn for 2024, an increase of 17%  on 2023,  with EBITDA up 0·6 points at 8·3%. Orders totalled €1·4bn in 2024 and the workforce reached 10 500, up 40% in four years. ‘We have delivered a particularly solid commercial performance this year, with a sharp rise in turnover, an increase in profitability, and a record level of new orders’, said CEO Jean-Charles Vollery on May 5. ‘The change in shareholder structure in 2024 will enable us to go even further and faster.’ The target is €2bn in turnover by 2030.  

Commenting on the new government, German railway industry association VDB said the sector needs a stable plan for steadily improving rail transport, with a focus on European value creation, lean processes and more effective financial instruments. 

Contracts for the design and construction of the 357 km Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai Phase 2 of the Thailand to China 250 km/h railway project are to be awarded to local rather than Chinese companies, with almost all of the materials used sourced domestically, Thailand’s Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit said in April. Thai companies will be able to form joint ventures with foreign partners.
